Why Jesus' Resurrection Matters - 1 Cor 15:1-28

This past weekend I had the privilege of preaching at our church (Christ's Covenant Church, Winona Lake IN) on the resurrection. The title of the message was "Why Jesus' Resurrection Matters," based on 1 Cor 15:1-28. For those interested, the audio can be found here.

i enjoyed the message...especially that you took it all the way through verse 28!

[didn't want to tackle verse 29 in the sermon though? why not? ;-) ]

please tell me your upcoming symposium will be recorded. i enjoy a tuesday night ministry opportunity that will prevent me from being able to attend.

Danny2,

Glad you enjoyed the message. My general preaching impulse is to take larger chunks of text so it is easier for the audience to see the big picture, even in the epistles (though admittedly it is more challenging).

As for the baptism for the dead in 15:29, I honestly don't know what to think. In my defense I do see a natural break between vv. 28-29. Thiselton (NIGTC) lists a ton of different interpretations, but I am willing to confess ignorance here. I'll leave those texts to the more courageous such as you :)

I don't know if my symposium will be recorded. Some have in the past, but I can't verify mine will be. I will check into it, and if it is I will post a link to the audio.

Hope all is well in the land of the Buckeyes ...
